بِمَخفِيِّby the hidden سِرٍّmystery لاnot أُحيطُI encompass بِهِof it علِماin knowledge
بِمَخفِيِّ سِرٍّ لا أُحيطُ بِهِ علِما
By my lowly stance before Your supreme might,
With my humiliating stance, not your great pride,
By a hidden mystery I cannot fully comprehend,
With a secret I do not fully comprehend,

بِمَدِّ يَدي أَستَمطِرُ الجودَ وَالرُحمى
By my bowed head, by my acknowledgment of my lowliness,
With my bowed head, confessing my lowliness,
By my outstretched hand as I seek a rain of bounty and mercy,
With outstretched hands, I implore your kindness and mercy,

By Your most beautiful names, even part of whose description
With your beautiful names, some of whose greatness
because of their majesty, exhausts all prose and verse,
Would overwhelm prose and verse,

With an ancient covenant, was I not your Lord?
By the one who was unknown, then made known through the names,
With the one who was unknown, made known by names,

Give us the draught of intimacy, O You who, when You give
a lover a drink, leave him neither wronged nor thirsty.
A lover to drink, neither cheats nor is stingy.
