أَعرِضTurn away عَنِfrom الجاهِلِthe ignorant man السَفيهِthe foolish one
أَعرِض عَنِ الجاهِلِ السَفيهِ
فَكُلُّfor all ماthat قالَhe says فَهُوَso it is فيهِin him
فَكُلُّ ما قالَ فَهُوَ فيهِ
Turn away from the ignorant fool;
For everything he says applies to himself.
ماnot ضَرَّharmed بَحرَthe vast waters of الفُراتُthe Euphrates يَوماًever
ما ضَرَّ بَحرَ الفُراتُ يَوماً
إِنif خاضَwade بَعضُsome of الكِلابِthe dogs فيهِin it
إِن خاضَ بَعضُ الكِلابِ فيهِ
The Euphrates’ vast waters are never harmed
If some dogs wade into them.
