لَيتَ الكِلابَ لَنا كانَت مُجاوِرَةً

لَيتَ الكِلابَ لَنا كانَت مُجاوِرَةً

وَلَيتَنا لا نَرى مِمّا نَرى أَحَدا

وَلَيتَنا لا نَرى مِمّا نَرى أَحَدا

Would that dogs were our neighbors,

I wish the dogs were our neighbors

and would that we saw none of those we see.

And we did not see anyone we see

إِنَّ الكِلابَ لَتَهدي في مَواطِنِها

إِنَّ الكِلابَ لَتَهدي في مَواطِنِها

وَالخَلقُ لَيسَ بِهادٍ شَرُّهُم أَبَدا

وَالخَلقُ لَيسَ بِهادٍ شَرُّهُم أَبَدا

Indeed, dogs grow calm in their dwelling places,

Dogs indeed guide in their dens

but people's evil never subsides.

While people are not guiding, their evil is endless

فَاِهرُب بِنَفسِكَ وَاِستَأنِس بِوِحدَتِها

فَاِهرُب بِنَفسِكَ وَاِستَأنِس بِوِحدَتِها

تَبقى سَعيداً إِذا ما كُنتَ مُنفَرِدا

تَبقى سَعيداً إِذا ما كُنتَ مُنفَرِدا

So flee with your soul, and find solace in its solitude;

So escape with yourself and befriend its solitude

you will remain happy if you are alone.

You will remain happy when you are alone
