    Your phantom visited us, Hannād,

Late at night, leaving us grief and sleeplessness.

How did you find your way to a caravan amid valleys,

Though you neither sought directions nor had a claim to provisions?

O fairest of all people, from crown to foot,

My heart was madly in love with you—nay, it flew, or nearly did.

Never did the wind blow toward me from your land

But my eye's tears welled up or flowed freely.
