شَفَيتَyou have sated your wrath منagainst نَعْثَلٍNaʿthal فيby نحتِhewing at أثلَتِهِhis tamarisk (figuratively, his lineage)
شَفَيتَ من نَعْثَلٍ في نحتِ أثلَتِهِ
فاعْمِدso turn هُديتَmay you be guided إلىto نحتhewing at الغَوِيَّيْنِthe two misguided men
فاعْمِد هُديتَ إلى نحت الغَوِيَّيْنِ
You have sated your wrath against Naʿthal by hewing at his tamarisk;
Your lips were carved from the juice of dates,
So turn, may you be guided, to hewing at the two misguided men.
So model your guidance on the carving of the licentious.
اعمدَturn هُديتَmay you be guided إلىto نحتhewing at اللذينthe two who هماthey both
اعمدَ هُديتَ إلى نحت اللذين هما
كاناthey both were عنof الشرِّevil لوif شاءاthey both wished غنيَّيْنِboth free of need
كانا عن الشرِّ لو شاءا غنيَّيْنِ
Turn, may you be guided, to hewing at those two who
Model your guidance on the carving of the two
Could have done without evil, had they wished.
Who, had they wished, could have done without evil.
