لّما أتى بالخبرِ الأَنْبَلِ

When he brought the noblest report

When he brought the news in the noble bird

Concerning a bird presented to the Messenger,

Sent to the messenger

في خبرٍ جاء أَبانٌ بهِ

In an account that Aban brought

In news that came, Aban told it

A ship with a shifting helm

سفينةٌ يمكن من رُشدِه

سفينةٌ يمكن من رُشدِه

وأنَسٌ خانَ ولم يَعْدِلِ

وأنَسٌ خانَ ولم يَعْدِلِ

Safinah is enabled to attain his right guidance,

A ship made possible by its righteousness

And Anas betrayed and did not act justly

في ردّهِ سيّدِ كلِّ الوَرى

في ردّهِ سيّدِ كلِّ الوَرى

مولاهمْ في المحكمِ المُنْزلِ

In turning away the master of all humankind,

In his response to the master of all people

Their master in the clear, revealed scripture.

Their protector in the revealed decree

فصدَّه ذو العرشِ عن رُشدِهِ

فصدَّه ذو العرشِ عن رُشدِهِ

وشانه بالبَرَصِ الأنْكَلِ

وشانه بالبَرَصِ الأنْكَلِ

So the Lord of the Throne turned him from his right guidance

So the Lord of the Throne turned him from his righteousness

And disfigured him with the most grievous leprosy.

And afflicted him with leprous spots
