فقامَ يَسعى حتى استقى فَملا

فقامَ يَسعى حتى استقى فَملا

كَفَّيهِ يَسعى به أبو حسنٍ

كَفَّيهِ يَسعى به أبو حسنٍ

Then he rose and hastened until he drew water and filled

So he went to draw water and filled

his two palms; Abu Hasan hurried with it.

His cup, Abu Hassan carried it

أدناه منه فقالَ حين قَضى

أدناه منه فقالَ حين قَضى

صلاتَهُ ادْنُ لي تُخبِّرُني

صلاتَهُ ادْنُ لي تُخبِّرُني

He drew him close to himself, then said, when he had finished

He brought it close and when he finished

his prayer, “Come near me and tell me

His prayer, said "Come near and tell me

من أين هذا فقصّ قصّتَه

من أين هذا فقصّ قصّتَه

عليه مستعبِراً جَوى حَزَنِ

عليه مستعبِراً جَوى حَزَنِ

where this came from.” So he recounted his story

Where is this from?" So he told his story

to him, weeping with sorrow’s burning anguish.

To him, sighing with deep sorrow

فضمَّه أحمدٌ كوامِقِه

فضمَّه أحمدٌ كوامِقِه

يا لك من وامقٍ ومُحْتَضَنِ

يا لك من وامقٍ ومُحْتَضَنِ

Then Ahmad embraced him like one who loved him.

Then Ahmad embraced him to his breast

Ah, what a loving one and an embraced one!

Oh you who has a sheltering breast

فقال ذا للبتولِ فاطمةٍ

فقال ذا للبتولِ فاطمةٍ

أوثرها مرّةً وتُؤثرني

أوثرها مرّةً وتُؤثرني

Then he said, “This is for Fatimah, the Virgin;

Then he said this to the maiden Fatima

I favor her once, and she favors me.

He preferred her once, and prefers me

وهاكَ هذا فأنتِ أوّلُ من

وهاكَ هذا فأنتِ أوّلُ من

آثرني ذو العلي وأكرمني

آثرني ذو العلي وأكرمني

And take this, for you are the first through whom

And here is this, for you are the first

the Lord on high has favored and honored me.”

To honor me, the Exalted, and esteem me
