مَشافِرَهhis thick lips وأنفَكand your nose ذاthis القبيحاugly
Rabah lent you, on the day we sold him,
One day a wind lent you his nose
His thick lips and this ugly nose of yours.
With its ugly nostrils and your own
وكانتand was حِصّتيmy share إبطَيّmy two armpits منهfrom him
ولوناًand a complexion حالكاًpitch-black أمسىbecame فَضوحاdisgraceful
And my share of him was my two armpits,
My share was his rank armpits
And a pitch-black complexion that proved disgraceful.
Their revolting color turned livid
فهلso would لكyou like فيin مُبادلِتيكَmy exchanging with you إبطيmy armpit
بِأَنفكَfor your nose تَحمَدُyou would praise البيعَthe bargain الرَّبيحاprofitable
So would you have me trade you my armpit
Would you exchange your nose for my pits?
For your nose? You would praise the profitable bargain.
A deal you'd praise though foul it is
فإنّكfor indeed you are أقبحُthe ugliest الفتيانِthe young men أنفاًin nose
وإبطيand my armpit أَنتنُthe foulest-smelling الآباطِthe armpits ريحاin smell
For you have the ugliest nose among young men,
You are the ugliest lad by the nose
And my armpit is the foulest-smelling of armpits.
My pits the most evil smelling breeze
