أيّهاO you المادحthe one praising العبادَthe people لِيُعطىso that he may be given
إنّindeed للهِbelongs to God ماwhatever بأيديin the hands of العبادthe people
O you who praise people to receive gifts,
O you who praise men to gain reward
Indeed, whatever is in people's hands belongs to God.
God truly owns what men think they have
فاسألِso ask اللهَGod ماwhat طلبتَyou asked for إليهمfrom them
وارجُand hope for نفعَthe favor of المُنَزِّلthe One who sends down blessings العَوَّادِthe ever-bestowing One
So ask God for what you asked of them,
So ask of God what you ask of them
And hope for the favor of Him who sends down blessings and gives again and again.
And hope for grace from Him, the frequent Giver
لاdo not تَقُلْyou say فيabout الجوادِthe generous man ماwhat ليسis not فيهِin him
وتُسمّيand you call البخيلَthe miser باسمby the name of الجوادِthe generous man
Do not ascribe to the generous man what is not in him,
Speak not of one who's generous, what is not true
Nor call the miser by the name of the generous.
Nor name the miser with the generous one's name
