    Listen, O you who reproach Ali: give up foul speech.

    For you are not justified in rebuking him.

    Do you reproach God's friend, after His trusted one,

    and the master of a pool whose drink is the finest draught?

    وقد حازَ ماءً من لُجينٍ مُذَهَّبِ

    And its banks are pearls, and its soil is musk;

    and it holds water of gilded silver.

    Whenever his ally wishes, he drinks; but should someone wish—

    an enemy of his—he turns back in disgrace and is struck.
