جعلت آلَ الرسولِ لي سبباً

جعلت آلَ الرسولِ لي سبباً

أرجو نَجاتي به من العَطَبِ

أرجو نَجاتي به من العَطَبِ

I have made the Messenger’s family a means for myself;

I have made the Prophet's family a cause through which

through it I hope for deliverance from ruin.

I hope for salvation from adversity.

على مَ أُحي على مودّةِ مَن

على مَ أُحي على مودّةِ مَن

جَعلتُهمْ عُدّةً لمُنْقَلَبي

جَعلتُهمْ عُدّةً لمُنْقَلَبي

Why do I [verb unclear in the text] over love for those

By loving those whom I have taken

whom I have made provision for my return?

As the means to gain forgiveness for my sins.

لو لم أكنْ قائلاً بحبّهمِ

لو لم أكنْ قائلاً بحبّهمِ

أشفقت من بُعْضِهمْ على نَسَبي

أشفقت من بُعْضِهمْ على نَسَبي

Had I not professed love for them,

Had I not been one who said he loved them,

I would fear for my lineage because of some of them.

I would have feared for my lineage because of some of them.
