ما أتعبَ الإنسانَ في مَسعاتهِ

ما أتعبَ الإنسانَ في مَسعاتهِ

إلاّ إذا واتاه جَدٌّ صاعدٌ

إلاّ إذا واتاه جَدٌّ صاعدٌ

How weary man is in his striving—

Nothing tires man in his quest

except when rising good fortune favors him.

Except when effort comes his way

ثِق واستعنْ بالله فيما تَبتغي

ثِق واستعنْ بالله فيما تَبتغي

تبلغْ مِناك وأنت عنه راقِدُ

تبلغْ مِناك وأنت عنه راقِدُ

Trust, and seek God's help in what you desire;

Trust in God and seek His aid

you will attain your wishes while you slumber, heedless of them.

In what you wish, you'll attain while at rest

وإذا أردتَ تناهياً في مطلبٍ

وإذا أردتَ تناهياً في مطلبٍ

فخُطاكَ قاصرةٌ ونقصُكَ زائدُ

فخُطاكَ قاصرةٌ ونقصُكَ زائدُ

And if you desire to reach the utmost in a pursuit,

And if you seek the impossible

then your steps fall short, and your deficiency grows.

Your steps fall short, your loss exceeds
