ألمdid … not? يكُhe was لماwhen دعاهُcalled him الرسولُthe Messenger
ألم يكُ لما دعاهُ الرسولُ
أجابanswered النبيَّthe Prophet ولمand did not يُدْهَشِbe bewildered
أجاب النبيَّ ولم يُدْهَشِ
Did he not, when the Messenger called him,
When the Messenger called him, did he not respond?
answer the Prophet without being bewildered?
He answered the Prophet without hesitation.
فصلَّىso he prayed هنيئاًmay it be a joy لهto him القبلتينِthe two prayer directions
فصلَّى هنيئاً له القبلتينِ
علىin أُنسِهِhis ease غيرَnot مُستوحِشِfeeling estranged
على أُنسِهِ غيرَ مُستوحِشِ
So he prayed toward both qiblas—may it bring him joy—
So he prayed in joy for him in both Qiblas,
at ease, without feeling estranged.
Feeling at ease, not lonely or anxious.
