به وصَّى النبيُّ غداة خمٌّ

به وصَّى النبيُّ غداة خمٌّ

جميعَ الناسِ لو حَفظوا النبيّا

جميعَ الناسِ لو حَفظوا النبيّا

Concerning him, on the morn at Khumm, the Prophet charged

Concerning him, the Prophet gave instructions on the morning of Khumm

all the people—if only they had kept faith with the Prophet.

وناداهمْ ألست لكم بِمولى

وناداهمْ ألست لكم بِمولى

عبادَ اللهِ فاستَمعوا إليّا

عبادَ اللهِ فاستَمعوا إليّا

He called out to them, “Am I not your master?

And he called to them: "Am I not your master,

Servants of God, listen to me!”

O servants of God? Then listen to me."

فقالوا أنتَ مولانا وأولى

فقالوا أنتَ مولانا وأولى

بنا منّا فضمَّ لهُ عليّا

بنا منّا فضمَّ لهُ عليّا

They answered, “You are our master, with a greater claim

They said: "You are our master, with greater claim

over us than we ourselves.” Then he drew Ali to his side

وقال لهم بصوتٍ جَهْوَرِيٍّ

وقال لهم بصوتٍ جَهْوَرِيٍّ

وأسمع صوتُه من كان حيّا

وأسمع صوتُه من كان حيّا

and spoke to them in a ringing voice,

And he said to them in a resounding voice,

making all who were alive hear his words:

and his voice reached all who were alive:

فمن أنا كنت مولاهُ فإنّي

فمن أنا كنت مولاهُ فإنّي

جعلتُ له أبا حسنٍ وليّا

جعلتُ له أبا حسنٍ وليّا

“Whoever has me as his master, I hereby

"So for anyone whose master I have been, I

appoint Abu Hasan as his guardian and master.

فعادى اللهُ من عاداهُ منكم

فعادى اللهُ من عاداهُ منكم

وكان بمن تولاّه حَفِيّا

وكان بمن تولاّه حَفِيّا

May God be the enemy of whoever among you is his enemy,

So may God oppose whoever among you opposes him,

and gracious to whoever takes him as an ally.”

and be gracious to whoever is loyal to him."
