by an arrow in the hand of a long-standing unbeliever, a traitor,
Was pierced by an arrow from the treacherous hand of an inveterate infidel,
فيin كفthe hand of مروانMarwan مروانMarwan اللعينthe accursed أرىI see
في كف مروان مروان اللعين أرى
رهطthe clan of الملوكthe kings ملوكاًkings غيرnot أخيارvirtuous men
رهط الملوك ملوكاً غير أخيار
in Marwan’s hand—Marwan the accursed. I see
In the hand of Marwan, accursed Marwan, I see
the clan of kings as kings without virtue.
