وبيعة ظاهرٍ بايعتموها

وبيعة ظاهرٍ بايعتموها

على الإسلامِ ثم نَقضتموها

على الإسلامِ ثم نَقضتموها

And an outward pledge of allegiance you swore,

You pledged allegiance, outwardly,

On the basis of Islam, then broke.

To Islam, then you broke it.

وقد قال الإلهُ لهنّ قِرنا

وقد قال الإلهُ لهنّ قِرنا

فما قرَّتْ ولا أقرَرْتُموها

فما قرَّتْ ولا أقرَرْتُموها

And God had told them, “Remain!”

God has said to them, "Settle down,"

Yet she did not remain, nor did you make her stay.

But they did not settle, nor did you make them.

يَسوق لها البعيرَ أبو خُبيب

يَسوق لها البعيرَ أبو خُبيب

لِحَيْنِ أبيه إذ سيَّرتموها

لِحَيْنِ أبيه إذ سيَّرتموها

Abū Khubayb drives the camel for her,

Abu Khubyb leads the she-camel for them

To his father's doom, when you sent her forth.

At the time of their father when you let them go.
