جاءتshe came معwith الأشقَينthe two wretches فيin هَودجa howdah
جاءت مع الأشقَين في هَودج
تُزجيshe urges onward إلىtoward البصرةBasra أجنادَهاher troops
تُزجي إلى البصرة أجنادَها
She came with the two wretches in a howdah,
She came with the unfortunates in a howdah
urging her troops toward Basra.
Marching her troops to Basra
كأنّهاas though she were فيin فِعلهاher action هِرَّةٌa she-cat
كأنّها في فِعلها هِرَّةٌ
تريدُshe wants أنto تأكلَeat أولادَهاher young
تريدُ أن تأكلَ أولادَها
In her actions, she is like a she-cat
As if she were in her deeds a she-camel
that wants to eat her own young.
