أَشْهدُ باللهِ وآلائِه

أَشْهدُ باللهِ وآلائِه

والمرءُ عمّا قاله يُسأَلُ

والمرءُ عمّا قاله يُسأَلُ

I bear witness by God and His blessings,

I bear witness by Allah and His signs

and a person is questioned about what he has said,

And man is asked about what he said

أن عليّ بنَ أبي طالب

أن عليّ بنَ أبي طالب

خليفةُ اللهِ الذي يَعدِلُ

خليفةُ اللهِ الذي يَعدِلُ

that Ali ibn Abi Talib

That Ali son of Abi Talib

is God's vicegerent, who acts justly;

Is the just Caliph of Allah

وأنّه قد كان من أحمدٍ

وأنّه قد كان من أحمدٍ

كمثلِ هارونَ ولا مُرْسَلُ

كمثلِ هارونَ ولا مُرْسَلُ

and that his relation to Ahmad was

And that he was to Ahmed

like Aaron's, though not a messenger,

As Aaron was without being sent

لكن وصيٌّ خازنٌ عندَه

لكن وصيٌّ خازنٌ عندَه

عِلمٌ من اللهِ به يَعمَلُ

عِلمٌ من اللهِ به يَعمَلُ

but an appointed successor, a custodian who holds

But a trustee with him storing

knowledge from God, by which he acts.

Knowledge from Allah by which he acts

قد قام يوم الدَّوح خيرُ الوَرى

قد قام يوم الدَّوح خيرُ الوَرى

بوجههِ للناسِ يَستَقْبِلُ

بوجههِ للناسِ يَستَقْبِلُ

The best of creation stood on the day of the great trees,

He stood on the day of Dawh, best of people

turning his face toward the people,

With his face towards people welcoming

وقال من قد كنتُ مولىً لهُ

وقال من قد كنتُ مولىً لهُ

فذا له مَولى لكم مَوئِلُ

فذا له مَولى لكم مَوئِلُ

and said, 'Whoever has had me as his patron,

And said whoever I was his master

this man is his patron, a refuge for you.'

So this is his master, to you is the return

لكنْ تَواصوا بِعليِّ الهُدى

لكنْ تَواصوا بِعليِّ الهُدى

أن لا يُوالوهُ وأن يَخْذُلوا

أن لا يُوالوهُ وأن يَخْذُلوا

But they urged one another concerning Ali of guidance,

But consult Ali the guided one

not to support him, and to forsake him.

Not to support him and to let down
