I shall give my ruling, since you made me arbiter, without extravagance

or stinginess, O son of noble, eminent chiefs:

Three thousand, a fine steed, and a mule,

and a beautiful slave-girl with full buttocks,

and a saddle, a swift, sturdy riding horse, and clothing.

And that is no excess in an arbiter's ruling.

Put me at ease with this during my stay, for I,

by your life, shall not sleep until I am given them.

For, were I in al-Ahwaz, I would not be content to receive from you

a load of thousands of the finest dirhams.
