فالعفوُfor pardon شأنكُمُyour way ياO آلَHouse of عَبَّاسِAbbas
When you grow angry, do not hasten to do harm.
When angered, do not be quick to evil
For pardon is your way, O House of Abbas.
For forgiveness is your way, O Abbasids
وكُنْand be صَفوحاًforgiving فإنَّfor indeed الصَّفْحَforgiveness مَنقَبةٌa virtue
أذكَىmore fragrant منthan الوَرْدِroses غِبَّafter القَطْرِrain والآسِand myrtle
And be forgiving, for forgiveness is a virtue,
Be forgiving, for forgiveness is a glory
More fragrant than roses after rain, and than myrtle.
Fresher than roses, myrtle, and sweet basil
فإنِّماfor only الحمدُpraise منّاfrom us والثَّوابُand the reward غداًtomorrow
لكاظمِfor the restrainer of الغَيْظِanger والعافيand the pardoner عنof الناسِpeople
For praise from us and tomorrow's reward are reserved
For praise and reward tomorrow belong
For one who restrains his anger and pardons people.
To those who curb rage and pardon all people
