تحكي لنا قَدَّ الأَسَل

Twisted and braided,

Intertwined, braided

It mirrors for us the slender form of rushes.

Telling us the strength of ropes

كأنَّها عُمرُ الفَتى

كأنَّها عُمرُ الفَتى

والنارُ فيها كالأَجَل

والنارُ فيها كالأَجَل

As though it were a young man's life,

As if it were the life of a young man

And the fire within it were like his appointed end.

And the fire within it, like fate
