كأنماas though الجسرُthe bridge فُوَيقَjust above الماءِthe water
كأنما الجسرُ فُوَيقَ الماءِ
وسفُنهand its boats جانحةُslanting الأفياءِthe shadows
وسفُنه جانحةُ الأفياءِ
It is as though the bridge just above the water,
As though the bridge were a necklace of water
And its boats, with their slanting shadows,
And its ships necklaces of mist.
شِبْهُthe likeness of الطِّرازِthe embroidery لاحَgleamed فيin الرِّداءِthe cloak
شِبْهُ الطِّرازِ لاحَ في الرِّداءِ
كأنهas though it فيin خِلَعِrobes of الظَّلماءِthe dark night
كأنه في خِلَعِ الظَّلماءِ
Were like embroidery gleaming on a cloak;
A design shone on the robe
As though, in the robes of the dark night, it were
As though it were the robe of darkness.
دُهْمٌblack ones منof الخيلthe horses علىat رَوَاءِplentiful water
دُهْمٌ من الخيل على رَوَاءِ
Black horses at plentiful water.
A host of horse on the meadow.
