غدوتُ بها مجنونةً في اغتدائِها
تُلاقيmeet الوحوشُthe wild beasts الحَيْنَdeath عندَupon لقائِهاmeeting them
تُلاقي الوحوشُ الحَيْنَ عندَ لقائِها
I set out at dawn with them as they made their frenzied morning foray.
I became infatuated with her when she revealed herself
Wild beasts meet death upon encountering them.
The beasts encounter her when they meet her
لهنthey have شياتٌmarkings كَالدَّواويجِlike coverlets أصبحتْbecame
لهن شياتٌ كَالدَّواويجِ أصبحتْ
مُوَلَّعَةًdappled ظَلْماؤُهاtheir darkness بضيائِهاwith their light
مُوَلَّعَةً ظَلْماؤُها بضيائِها
They have markings like coverlets; now
They have features like lamps that have become
Their darkness has become dappled with their light.
Dazzled by her brilliance in her oppression
وأيدٍand paws إذاwhen سَلَّتunsheathed صوالجَcurved clubs فِضةٍof silver
وأيدٍ إذا سَلَّت صوالجَ فِضةٍ
علىagainst الوَحشِwild beasts يوماًon a day أذهَبتْcarried away بدِمائِهاwith their blood
على الوَحشِ يوماً أذهَبتْ بدِمائِها
And paws that, when they unsheathe silver clubs
And hands that, if they pulled out silver swords
Against wild beasts on any day, drain them of their blood.
Upon the beast one day, would take away its blood
