ومَبنِيَّةٍ من خَيْزُرانٍ مُفَضَّضٍ

ومَبنِيَّةٍ من خَيْزُرانٍ مُفَضَّضٍ

يُقَدِّمُها ِخشْفٌ من الإِنْسِ أروَعُ

يُقَدِّمُها ِخشْفٌ من الإِنْسِ أروَعُ

And a censer fashioned from silver-plated bamboo,

Presented by a handsome fawn of humankind.

لها قُبَّةٌ كالحيَّتَيْنِ صَبيلَةٌ

لها قُبَّةٌ كالحيَّتَيْنِ صَبيلَةٌ

وَوَجْهٌ بتجذيفِ الشَّوانينِ يَلمَعُ

وَوَجْهٌ بتجذيفِ الشَّوانينِ يَلمَعُ

It has a dome like two serpents [epithet unclear],

And a face that gleams with the fans' rowing strokes.

عجَاجَتُها دَكْناءُ في كلِّ مَجلسٍ

عجَاجَتُها دَكْناءُ في كلِّ مَجلسٍ

وياقوتُها الجَمرُ الذي يَتَضَوَّعُ

وياقوتُها الجَمرُ الذي يَتَضَوَّعُ

Its swirling smoke is dusky in every gathering,

And its ruby is the glowing coal that wafts fragrance.

إذا اسُتودِعَتْ سِرّاً أذاعَتْ بسِرِّها

إذا اسُتودِعَتْ سِرّاً أذاعَتْ بسِرِّها

تُشِّتتُ أنفاساً بها العَيْشُ يُجمَعُ

تُشِّتتُ أنفاساً بها العَيْشُ يُجمَعُ

When entrusted with a secret, it divulges its secret;

It scatters breaths through which life is gathered together.
