A wondrous beauty, her body a chrysolite,

Green, her beauty concealed by veils.

Wounded at the waist, yet not bleeding

    As wounds and scars do.

As though, from the roughness of her clothing,

She were chilled, while the midday heat blazes.

As though the water, when she sends it forth,

Were molten silver, its spout gold.
