A weeping woman, all her night through,
And a weeping one, all through her night,
imitating the dawn with her lamp—
mimics the morning with her lamp.

keen-sighted at night, and yet
Sighted by night, and yet she
blind when its morning comes.
is its blind one when her morning comes.
نَجُزُّwe shear off لإصلاحِهاto mend her رأسَهاher head
فإفسادُهاso her undoing عندat the time of إصلاحِهاher mending
To set her right, we shear off her head;
We shear off her head to mend her,
thus her ruin comes in her repair.
so her undoing comes with her mending.
