له ولا للطيف في الهجعه

You have moved on, O heart, so do not turn

Be still, O heart, and heed him not

toward him, nor toward the phantom in slumber.

In sleep's sweet ease, nor yet when day is hot,

ولا تعد واخش لظى هجره

ولا تعد واخش لظى هجره

فالنار عقبى القول بالرجعه

فالنار عقبى القول بالرجعه

And do not return, and fear the blaze of his abandonment,

Make no vain vows, thy pleadings will avail thee naught,

For fire is the consequence of professing belief in the return.

For fire, not love, is his return, I wot.
