يوهمني من لين أعطافه
بأنهthat he لمdid not يقسbe harsh يوماًever علىtoward [me]
بأنه لم يقس يوماً على
Through the softness of his flanks, he makes me think
His gentle manner fools me into thinking
That he has never once been harsh toward [me].
He was never once harsh or stern,
ويخدعand he deceives البندthe belt إلىuntil أنthat غداit became
ويخدع البند إلى أن غدا
يربطهties it الخصرthe waist علىaround غيرother than شيa thing
يربطه الخصر على غير شي
And he deceives the belt until it comes to be
Yet the waist-belt proves how he grew up
Tied by his waist around nothing at all.
