1. يقولون حاكاه الهلال فلا تزغ

    عن الحق واعرف ذاك إن كنت تنصف

    They say, “The crescent moon resembles him, so do not stray

    from the truth; acknowledge that, if you judge fairly.”

  2. فقلت إذا ما صار بدراً مكملا

    حكاه ومع هذا عليه تكلف

    So I said, “When it becomes a perfect full moon,

    it will resemble him—and even then, it must strain.”
