He eats people's flesh, even though
He eats people's flesh, and yet
the poor wretch has drunk nothing but broth.”
The poor fellow drank only broth
دعانيinvited me صديقٌa friend إلىto دعوةa feast
دعاني صديقٌ إلى دعوة
فجاءتand it turned out علىin غيرa manner different from ماwhat أحسبI expected
فجاءت على غير ما أحسب
A friend invited me to a feast,
My friend invited me to a feast
and it turned out unlike what I expected:
But it came not as I hoped
سنانيرهُhis cats تسلبُsnatch الأكلthe food منfrom
سنانيرهُ تسلبُ الأكل من
يديmy hand وزنابيرهand his wasps تلسبsting
يدي وزنابيره تلسب
His cats snatch the food from
His gold coins snatched the food from
my hand, and his wasps sting.
My hands, and his hornets stung
