جنبي على فرش الضنى قلبته
They carried the beloved to me when they saw
When they saw my beloved lying beside me
me turning from side to side on beds of wasting sickness.
On the mattress of affection in my embrace
حتىuntil إذاwhen سألوهthey asked him لثميkissing me قالhe said لوeven if
حتى إذا سألوه لثمي قال لو
قبلتهI kissed him للموتto bring death ماnot قبلتهI would kiss him
قبلته للموت ما قبلته
At last, when they asked him to kiss me, he said, “Even if
They asked him, “Did she kiss you?” He replied, “If I had
kissing him would bring him death, I would not kiss him.”
Been kissed by her, I would not have kissed death.”
