قولوا له رد النفار إلى الظبا

قولوا له رد النفار إلى الظبا

والميل فرقه على الأغصان

والميل فرقه على الأغصان

Tell him: return skittishness to the gazelles,

Tell him to return the partridges to the thicket

and distribute swaying among the branches;

And to spread its inclination on the branches,

أو هات غيري للتجني والجفا

أو هات غيري للتجني والجفا

فأنا استجرت بذمة السلوان

فأنا استجرت بذمة السلوان

or bring someone else to endure your unjust treatment and coldness,

Or bring another for reaping and disdain,

for I have sought refuge under the protection of forgetfulness.

For I have taken refuge in the protection of tranquility.
