على أغيد أزرى محياه بالبدر
O you who blame the lovesick lover for forsaking his patience
O you who blame the lover for losing patience
Over a graceful youth whose face puts the full moon to shame:

يقابل هاتيك الحلاوةَ بالصبر
Everything about him is sweet, and he ought not
All that is in him and all that befits him
To meet such sweetness with bitter patience.
