ياO آمريyou who command me بالصبرto be patient عمنapart from him who شفنيhas made me waste away
يا آمري بالصبر عمن شفني
سقماًwith sickness وفيand in فيهhis mouth شفاءُthe cure for غليليmy burning thirst
سقماً وفي فيه شفاءُ غليلي
O you who bid me endure separation from him who has made me waste away
O you who order me to be patient with one who cured me
with sickness, though in his mouth lies the cure for my burning thirst—
When I was sick, and in him was the remedy for my suffering,
منwho يستطيعcan الصبرpatience أوor يرضىis content بهwith it
من يستطيع الصبر أو يرضى به
عنaway from مثلthe like of هذاthis المرشفthe mouth المعسولِhoney-sweet
عن مثل هذا المرشف المعسولِ
who can be patient, or be content with it,
Who can have patience, or be content with it
away from such a honey-sweet mouth?
In the face of such a gentle, sweet confidant?
