وبالغتand you went to extremes معdespite قربthe nearness of المنازلthe dwellings فيin البعدdistance
O light of my eye, you are now in the darkness of the grave,
O light of my eyes, you have become in the darkness of the grave
And though the dwellings are near, you have gone so far away.
And reached, despite the nearness of dwellings, remoteness

As though youth had never swayed your supple frame,
As if you had not wrapped with your wraps the youth
As the east wind rocked the swaying laurel;
As the morning breeze blew gently through the soft branches

Nor had that face's mouth spent the night smiling
Nor did that face spend the night smiling its lips
And parting to reveal pearls strung in a necklace.
And disclosing a pearl in a knot

Indeed, my soul has grown thirsty for a sip of its saliva;
Indeed my soul thirsted for a sip of his drink
Yet how far out of reach! Alas for my sleeplessness over that honey!
But alas, rest yourself from that sweet honey

When the fire of its grief for you blackens my heart,
When my heart darkens in you from the fire of its sadness
Then my eyelids wash no part of me but my cheek.
Then nothing washes my eyelids except my cheeks
وقدand indeed صرتI have come to أبكيI mourn كلevery شيءٍthing بمثلهwith its like
لأنيbecause I am فردpeerless فيin الصبابةardent love والوجدand longing
And I have come to mourn each thing with its like,
And I have come to cry for everything like it
For I am peerless in ardent love and longing.
For I am alone in youth and passion
فثغركso your mouth أبكيهI mourn it بأبيضwith the white of أدمعيmy tears

So I mourn your mouth with my white tears,
So your lips I cry for with my white tears
And with their red I mourn your rosy cheek.
And its redness I cry for with your rosy cheek
