إن عشت لا بد من لقيا وجوهكم

ولم يعقني إلا الموت إن وافى

If I live, I shall surely see your faces,

If I live, I will inevitably see your faces,

And nothing will hinder me but death, should it come.

And nothing will stop me except death, if it comes.

بالله لا يسمع الدهرُ الخئون بما

قد قلته فيزيد البعد أضعافا

By God, let treacherous Time not hear of what

By God, time does not hear lamentations over what

I have said, lest it increase the separation manyfold.

I have said, so separation only grows manifold.
