رأيت إلى سيدٍ لم أخنهُ

I wrote, with the dāl-words of my condition as

I wrote about my feelings as I saw,

you saw, to a master whom I have not betrayed:

To a master I did not betray,

دعائي ودمعي ودأبي ودائي

دعائي ودمعي ودأبي ودائي

له وعليه وفيه ومنه

له وعليه وفيه ومنه

my prayer, my tears, my striving, and my ailment—

My prayers and tears and efforts and pains

for him, over him, in him, and from him.
