I am enamored of a maiden who would not be content to have the full moon of night

spend the night in her service, journeying through the dark.

When she gazed, he swore in fear—

Harut—never again to return to sorcery.

And her radiant hair-parting banishes the darkness

and strips away the night until dawn.

And lightning, when she smiled—how often it found itself

with its heart pounding in terror!

And the gazelle, when she turned her neck,

    fled headlong into the wilderness.

And were she to sway, she would wear out her slipper

on the back of the verdant bough's head,

and thrust it into the vulva of the sand dune's mother,

and feel no shame before the flowers' gray hair.
