كيفhow يزورvisits الخيالthe phantom طرفاًan eye
كيف يزور الخيال طرفاً
يراهsees it منكمfrom you جفاestrangement وبينand separation
يراه منكم جفا وبين
How can the phantom visit an eye
How does imagination visit one
that estrangement and separation from you behold?
Whom it sees from you all aloof and estranged
والنومand sleep قدhas غابvanished منذsince غبتمyou departed
والنوم قد غاب منذ غبتم
ولمand has not تقعfallen ليfor me عليهupon it عينيmy eye
ولم تقع لي عليه عيني
And sleep has vanished since you departed,
Since you left, sleep has been absent
and my eye has not fallen upon it.
And my eyes have not fallen upon it
