  1. أهواه مشتغلا بعلم الوقت ذا

    حسنٍ بديع في الأنام نفيس

    I love him, absorbed in the science of timekeeping, endowed with

    Wondrous beauty, precious among humankind.

  2. فكأن شمس جبينه لما استوت

    جاء العذارُ بظلها المنكوس

    So it is as though, when the sun of his brow reached its zenith,

    His cheek-down brought that sun’s inverted shadow.
