  1. وسيوفٍ إذا مضت في جراح

    قلت هذا بنفسجٌ في شقيق

    And swords that, when they pierce wounds,

    Make me say, “Violets amid anemones!”

  2. ينشد الجسم روحه من ظباها

    ودماها بين النقا والعقيق

    The body seeks its soul from her gazelles

    And her statue-like beauties between al-Naqa and al-Aqiq.
