  1. يقول إذ لم يقض لي حاجة

    وقمت عنه وأنا مبلس

    He says, having failed to meet a need of mine,

    as I rose to leave him, despondent:

  2. اصبر عقبى الصبر محمودة

    لت فلم قد عسر المجلس

    “Be patient; the outcome of patience is praiseworthy.”

    [Possibly: I said,] “Then why has the gathering become difficult?”
