  1. بنفسي قيما حلو المعاني

    إليه يبتغي القمر الوسيله

    I would give my life for an attendant, sweet in his ways;

    the moon seeks a means of drawing near to him.

  2. ويشكره الورى طراً على ما

    يعاب سواه من طول الفتيله

    And all humankind thanks him for what

    is held against others: the length of the wick.
