لقد شب جمر القلب من فيض عبرتي

كما إن رأسي شاب من موقف البين

كما إن رأسي شاب من موقف البين

The embers of my heart have flared from the flood of my tears,

The heart’s embers have indeed flared from the overflow of my tears,

even as my head has turned gray from the tear duct of parting.

Just as my head has turned gray from facing separation.

وإن كنت ترضى لي مشيبي والبكا

وإن كنت ترضى لي مشيبي والبكا

تلقيت ما ترضاه بالرأس والعين

تلقيت ما ترضاه بالرأس والعين

And if it pleases you that gray hair and weeping be mine,

And if you are content with my gray hair and weeping,

I will welcome whatever pleases you—with head and eye.

I would gladly receive what pleases you, with head and eye.
