  1. تبدى العذار فخلى الجفاء

    ولان وأجمل بعد الصدود

    His cheek-down appeared, so he abandoned aloofness;

    And he grew gentle and gracious after turning away.

  2. ومد الهوان على شخصه

    حواشي ثيابٍ من الذل سود

    And abasement spread over his form

    The hems of black garments of humiliation.
