  1. وإخوانٍ وثقت بهم فأضحى

    أذاهم كل وقتٍ يعتريني

    And brothers in whom I trusted—then

    their harm began assailing me at every moment.

  2. فلما أن أسأت الظن كفوا

    فوا عجباه من ظن يقيني

    So when I thought ill of them, they desisted;

    how wondrous, then, a suspicion that protects me!
