ولقد أقول لمن يلوم على هوى

خودٍ غدت دون الأنام ملاذي

خودٍ غدت دون الأنام ملاذي

And indeed I say to whoever reproaches me for loving

I say to those who blame me for loving,

And truly I say to the one who rebukes my passion

A fair maiden who became my refuge to the exclusion of all others:

That I have become, because of passion, a refuge for mankind,

For a tender maiden who has become my sanctuary among all people

Have blamed me for this before you

Have censured me for her sake, speaking words of raving madness
