رأيت شعبان قد ماجت روادفه

رأيت شعبان قد ماجت روادفه

وماس من فوقها غصنٌ من البان

وماس من فوقها غصنٌ من البان

I saw Shaʿbān, his buttocks undulating;

I saw Sha'ban, her howdah swaying

And above them swayed a bough of the bān tree.

With a branch of ebony leaning over it

قلت الملاحة لا تخفى حلاوتها

قلت الملاحة لا تخفى حلاوتها

سيما وجامعها في نصف شعبان

سيما وجامعها في نصف شعبان

I said, “Beauty’s sweetness cannot be hidden,

I said, "Sweetness cannot hide her skillfulness"

Especially with its embodiment in the middle of Shaʿbān.”
