كمhow many لحظةٍa glance كررتهاI repeated it فيin لحظهgazing at him
كم لحظةٍ كررتها في لحظه
كالبرقِlike lightning فيin الإيماءgesturing والإيماضand flashing
كالبرقِ في الإيماء والإيماض
How many a glance have I repeated while gazing at him,
How many moments I've repeated in a moment
Like lightning in gesture and flash.
Like lightning in a blink and a glimmer
ياO صارمsharp blade الأجفانِthe eyelids لاdo not تنكرobject علىto
يا صارم الأجفانِ لا تنكر على
نظرٍa glance أكررهI repeat it فإنكfor you are ماضkeen-edged
نظرٍ أكرره فإنك ماض
O you with sword-sharp eyelids, do not object to
O stern of eyelids, do not deny
A glance I repeat, for you are keen-edged.
A gaze I repeat, for you are gone
