عن حالةٍ أصبحتُ منها ذائبا
Indeed, I rode the courier-post—do not ask
And indeed I rode a post-horse, so do not ask
about a plight at which I made one melting away laugh.
About the plight that left me melting away.

نقل الخطا في مشيةٍ إلا كبا
I grew exhausted from kicking while astride my horse; never
I grew exhausted from kicking my horse, and it never
did it take a step in its gait without stumbling.
Took a step in its gait without stumbling.

So I ended up walking upright—not like the one
So I came to walk while standing still, unlike the one
who once before had said, “I walk while riding.”
Who had said before, ‘I walk while riding.’
